Giving the Gift of Life
Who Can Donate?
People of all ages, medical history, and nationalities should consider themselves potential donors. Your medical condition at the time of death will determine what organs and tissues can be donated.
The need for donated organs, eye and tissue continue to grow. In 2007, 95,080 men, women, and children currently await life-saving organ transplants. Sadly, an average of 18 people die each day due to a lack of available organs. These numbers increase every year.
To see the most current counts for those waiting for donations and transplants performed, visit the United Network for Organ Sharing.
